The United States Army has a rich tradition that dates back as far as 1775. In that era George Washington was commander of the Continental Army. Today there are many ranks that make up the U.S. Army.
The army is responsible for all land-based military operations. Land based operations include: protection of peace and security, defense of America, its Commonwealths and all areas occupied by the United States. The U.S. Army is also charged with implementation and support of the countries objectives and policies and confrontation of any nation that threatens the peace and security.
Structure of the United States Army
There are 10 Divisions of the Army as of this writing; however, there are changes underway from Division to Brigade. Initially there will be 33 Brigades growing to 48.
